ThinkPHP #12: Backbone, e-government, and PHP

2 November 2015

On October 9th, 2015, 275 people interested in PHP gathered at the conference hall of SC “Metallist” to take part in the 12th ThinkPHP ThinkPost conference.

The event opened with a presentation by Dmitry Chirkin: “How to understand backbone: from vanillaJS to marionette.” He started with the basic concepts of backbone/marionette, moved to the role of marionette in the backbone, and showed how to compactly organize the code and the build of the grunt/r.js project. Then he showed how integration with third-party libraries (multilingual, jQuery plugins) works.

After a short break, Anton Shevchuk, the author of the book, “jQuery for beginners,” gave a speech about a career. He spoke about evolution from a junior developer to a Technical Lead of the department.

“What’s up with the e-government in Ukraine and in Kharkiv?” — was the question Rostislav Siryk answered. He spoke about the main Ukrainian open-source project, igov.org.ua, and its architecture and API, current achievements, and issues. Rostislav demonstrated how to get rid of copy-paste content by refactoring and invited the attendees to take part in this important open-source project.

Everybody at the conference received PHP cards for post-crossing. Those with the most interesting questions got licenses for any tool or IDE from JetBrains. One lucky guest won an invitation to PHP Frameworks Day.

We are already looking forward to the 13th ThinkPHP conference.
