ThinkJava #4 at Kharkiv

On the eve of the fourth meeting of the community, our team moved to a new domain and updated the design of ThinkJava website. :) Event was held at our habitual place — a large hall in Fabrika creative space in Kharkiv.

Our team swam the seas and oceans to attend the SpringOne Platform in Las Vegas and prepared ThinkJava #4 program after their return. Two speakers shared their newly brought-back knowledge and experience in cloud computing.

The first speaker Alexander Malinovsky uncovered the theme “Applications Development with Cloud Foundry”:

• the main types of clouds;
• Platform as a Service (PaaS);
• criteria of Cloud-Native application;
• main components of Cloud Foundry;
• zero-downtime deployment in a real CF application example.

During the coffee break, the event guests took an excellent opportunity to discuss the speech with like-minded people. And perhaps, maybe a couple of guys even managed to walk to the bar on the ground floor. :)

The second speaker at ThinkJava #4 was Roman Tsymbalenko. He introduced the concept of “Data Wrangling” in his report to the participants and showed:

• a continuous data processing system with a Spring Cloud Data Flow;
• benefits of transferring these systems to the cloud;
• use of the existing Spring sub-projects.

In conclusion, the speaker spoke about available Spring integrations and shared his predictions about what we can expect in the future.

Traditionally, we hand out plush Dukes to ThinkJava #4 speakers. This time, the special application randomly selected badges, the owners of which got cool and useful gifts—cups and power banks. :)
